Columbia Cedar, Inc. is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic

Columbia Cedar, Inc. is a local cedar sawmill that responsibly harvest, mills & manufactures select, tight-knot Western Red Cedar building products. We offer lumber industry & sawmill career opportunities with competitive wages & benefits.

Currently, we have an opening for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our skilled team. Applicants should have verifiable work experience as a Diesel Mechanic. This is a regular Full-Time Day shift position.


Summary (basic purpose of the job):

Provide quality preventative maintenance as well as performing diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on the road and rolling stock downtime.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, practices, and procedures
  • Timely and regular attendance
  • Repair and preventative maintenance of all plant rolling stock
  • Parts and preventative maintenance of all plant rolling stock
  • Parts and inventory control
  • Keep accurate record of daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance
  • Keep a well-organized workspace
  • Competent problem solving, planning, and decision-making skills
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications include the following:

  • Must be 18 or older
  • 3+ years’ experience in a maintenance/mechanic setting
  • Able to read schematics, both hydraulic and electric
  • Basic welding skills required
  • Class B CDL license preferred but not required
  • General knowledge of rolling stock and heavy equipment operations
  • Must be willing to work overtime
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions/temperatures

Wage rate for this position will depend on experience
